Snow
We're kind of snowed in here. Yes, yesterday the craziest weather hit one half of Denmark; the northern and eastern parts of the country. Snow, snow, snow, and more snow --> a blizzard that lasted 24 hours! I was pretty worried when I left for work yesterday morning, but the wee Punto kicked some serious arse, I must say. Hardly anyone turned up for work, and those who did left again pretty early as the weather kept getting worse and worse. People were terrified they'd be stranded at work. I managed to leave at 3pm because I had some time and leave. Today I was unable to go to work: the car is burried deep in snow, the roads are extremely unsafe [and impossible] to travel on, all buses have been cancelled and the police has been warning people, advising them to stay indoor. So I've taken a holiday today. I have to pay for it myself but what the hell. I'm not risking my life for a crappy call centre job!
Here are some photos from the local newspaper [as I've not been outside with the camera myself. Too cold!] :

That is nuts! I was going crazy with the freezing weather here, but you guys have it a lot worse!
I love that picture of the door. That's like something out of a cartoon! Wrap up warm!
Yeah, it's hit us pretty badly, MJ -- and it's still getting worse. People who are at work are being urged to start their journey homeward now....and it's only 12:50pm here!
LOL! Totally, Adam :-) It's a brilliant photo. No worries, I'm already wrapped up warm and enjoying plenty of hot coffee today. Luckily, today is my day off [due to Saturday shift].
wow wow wow! I can't believe it. I like the bike in the snow. I'm glad you're in with a nice cuppa. This is what we call being snowed in.
adam took my line! it looks unreal. if the outside pics didn't show the drifts it would seem hard to believe.
hope you're able to dig out. enjoy your snow days. if it snows a few centimeters here everything shuts down.
Everything pretty much did shut down here, Jo -- seriously. But only one half of the country which made it a bit bizzare because Denmark is pretty small. It began thawing today; so things are clearing up already.
I was just thinking to myself: boy am I happy you're a dane and not a dutch person. the dutch seem like a filthy group of people to me.
be safe!
LOL LOL LOL @ Jiggs! :-D
hei, long since i droped by, and i see its been snowing a lot while i´ve been gone,
and rioting in your capital too, where will it end?
wow! I've always had romantic notions of being snowed in. But I'm sure the reality is not that great. I remember heavy snow when I lived in Timaru many years ago, but we never got even close to being snowed in.
